Garbage In

Proverbs 17:4
Where do you get your information? I’m not just asking about news, but all your information. Do you trust WikiPedia, video documentaries, the magazines in the checkout lines, Google, Facebook? Do you find out about things through whispers? Is your information filled with negative connotations and comments? Is someone else being put down in the process?
Where we get our information says volumes about our character. If we are listening to gossip, we are a gossip, even if we never pass it along. If we believe lies and then pass them along, we are a liar. We have a responsibility to be sure we are speaking the truth. We need to check our facts.
Our proverb makes a connection between our character and the character of the things we take in. The old saying, “Garbage in, garbage out” comes to mind.
The ungodly person listens to lies and doesn’t seem to have any problems with it. Lies are part of an ungodly person’s character. Deceiving comes easily to them. They pay attention to other ungodly people in hopes that they can learn new techniques for deception.
Scam artists know this well. And right now with the new healthcare law going into effect, and so many people giving their information to unreliable and non-secure collection points, the scammers are having a golden opportunity put right in their laps. The Navigators have no background checks. If I were an identity thief, I would get a Navigator job. I would gather the information and then wait a few months before I pounced on those identities.
If you live in the USA, and you don’t have health insurance, I suggest you wait as long as possible before getting into one of the exchanges. Maybe they will finally pay attention to security in the coming months. I’m not giving my opinion in the hopes the system will fail, but because deceivers are circling above this like vultures. They are ready to exploit every weakness in order to steal money and identities.
We have a choice where we get information. I want to encourage you to find sources that tell the facts without the emotional hype and manipulation.
