Refuel

Proverbs 16:22
Where do you get enriched? How do you refuel? When you get drained, what fills you up?
The way we live our life either fills us up or drains us. When we live in a way that honors the LORD, our life will be full. This does not mean that we won’t have adversity. The adversities of life come to everyone, some get more, some get less.
The way we get refueled makes a huge difference in the long run. Vacations are great! But how many of us can continue to vacation at new and exciting (and expensive) locations year after year? And how many vacations can you take in a year?
What do you do with the day to day drains to your energy? I bet if we were listening to the radio right now there would be some supplement offered for a free trial at this point in the BLOG. That is because we do need ways to refuel ourselves. Outside things, experiences, distractions, events, seminars, tablets, supplements, or diets just won’t do what our proverb promotes.
Our proverb tells us that living the right kind of life rejuvenates a person from within. When someone lives a life that follows the character of the LORD, wisdom and good judgment follow. And when that happens, life itself refuels and regenerates us. Right living leads to the abundant life.
By contrast, we can live a life that drains us, no matter how many vacations we take. If we are doing the wrong things, things that a contrary to the character of the LORD, we will be drained. There may be a temporary high, just like getting drunk, but there will be the inevitable hangover. Doing the wrong things can seem to have a payoff, but eventually the bill must be paid.
Live a life that strengthens itself. Be in right relationship with the LORD. Get connected to other people in meaningful ways. Give yourself to others in service. Cultivate healthy life-choices.
